NAUGHTY VIDEO: Canuck Conservative riffs on Liberal promises

Speaking at an event in Toronto yesterday, the Hon. Pierre Poilievre, leader of His Majesty's Loyal Opposition (the Conservative Party of Canada) told a little joke about why a bride was still a virgin in spite of three previous marriages.

If rumors that the Natural Governing Party plan to call a snap election after dropping a record deficit budget next Tuesday prove true, `ti-Pierre will have plenty of opportunities to hone his stand-up shtick on stumps from coast to coast to coast of Canuckistan. But can he make the frostbacks laugh hard enough to actually get up off their chesterfields [American readers can look that up. Ed.] and vote the rascals out?

Happy Hallowe'en

Read somewhere that Trump trick-or-treat costumes are not selling well this year north of the World's Longest Undefended Border. Apparently Canucks are (a) not scared, (b) not amused, or (c) both of the above.

VIDEO: Cuba* is the enemy of the West. UN Ambassador Mike Waltz explains the Cuba Embargo

*We refer not to the people of Cuba, but to that wretched country's Communist government. Sadly, it is the ordinary people of Cuba, not the dictator and his cronies, who suffer during humanitarian crises like this week's Hurricane Melissa.

Millions of dollars are being sent by the governments and people of the US of A, Canada and other Western nations to the government and NGOs of Jamaica, to help that country recover from the devastation caused by the disaster. But nothing is being sent to Cuba.

Why? Because Cuba's Communist government has made itself our enemy. They want to overthrow the Western democracies and bring our prosperous societies down to the level of abject poverty experienced by their subjects.

The response of the West to the troubles caused by the Cuban government -- not just to their own island state but to countries as far afield as Ukraine -- can only be to keep the necessaries of life from reaching them. Some day, it is hoped, the hardships caused by the Cuba Embargo will cause the Cuban people to rise up and overthrow their cruel and corrupt government.

Earlier this week, Mike Waltz, the American Representative to the United Nations, explained the whys and wherefores of the Embargo to the UN General Assembly. In this video, you will here Mr Waltz's remarks in tull, as well as an interruption on a point of order by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, followed by the Ambassador's powerful conclusion.

The link to this video was sent to us by our new Agent 10, whom Walt welcomes to our little group of friends. Agent 10 knows from personal experience what it's like to live in what she calls "that hellhole". She warns that the Communists have friends in the USA and Canada, pretending to be anti-Communist expats.

Beware of organizations with names like "Cuban-American Friendship Society"* asking for money to help the people of Cuba. Any money you give them goes straight to the Cuban government and military. Give only to people you know and trust.

Canadian readers should also want to think twice, or even three times, about going to Cuba for your winter holiday. The money you spend at Cuban resorts goes to the government, not to the people, not even the people who work in those places, who receive only starvation wages. By spending money in Cuba, you are actually helping our enemies. Don't do it!

* Footnote: Agent 3 sez that I forgot to mention the Fair Play for Cuba Committee. which was set up by the Castro government in 1960, and had branches all over the US of A and Canada. Lee Harvey Oswald was connected with them. Remember him? As far as we know, the FPCC no longer exists as such.

Former POTUS favours reciprocity vs tariffs and protectionism

On 5 September 1901, William McKinley, 25th President of the United States of America, was in Buffalo NY, speaking at the Pan-American Exposition. The Republican president surprised many by shifting his stance on tariffs to favor reciprocity -- a system of mutual exchange with other nations.

Lest the current POTUS challenge the summary that follows, or accuse Walt of making the whole thing up, we have a transcript of his speech, from the University of Virginia Miller Center.

President McKinley argued that the United States, as a manufacturing powerhouse, needed to export its surplus goods and, in turn, should be willing to import foreign products that could benefit its own industries and labour force.

This speech marked a significant change from his earlier protectionist policies, which had been known as the McKinley Tariff.  He proposed a policy where the US of A would lower tariffs on certain foreign goods in exchange for other countries reducing their tariffs on American products.

President McKinley recognized that the nation's growing production capacity required foreign markets to absorb its excess goods, as it could not rely on domestic consumption alone. And he stated that this system of receiprocity would be mutually beneficial, enabling America to sell more abroad and make domestic purchases that would create greater demand for American labour.

The speech signalled that the era of pure protectionism was ending, so the United States needed to engage in "friendly trade relations" to avoid commercial wars and reprisal. The high tariffs of 1890 had led to price increases for consumers and were blamed for Republican losses in the 1890 mid-term elections.

President McKinley was never able to implement his new reciprocity policy, owing to his having been assassinated the following day by Leon Czolgosz, a young anarchist, who shot him at close range. The President died eight days later, to be replaced by Theodore Roosevelt.

VIDEO: The Canadian ad featuring President Reagan that President Trump doesn't want Americans to believe

Dear American readers, How do you feel about all the tariffs which President Trump has slapped on America's trade partners, particularly Canada? Are they making America stronger? More prosperous? Great again? Is the price which you personally are paying for protectionism worth it?

President Trump is in a snit because the government of Ontario put together a TV spot, using clips from a speech televised in 1987, in which the last conservative president to occupy the White House says that tariffs are not helpful but hurtful to the American people. Check this out.

Yesterday, while en route to gabfests with assorted Asian leaders in Malaysia and South Korea, POTUS said that, because of the ad, which he called "fake", he's ending all talks with Canada over the ad. But wait (as Vince Offer used to say), there's more. "Because of their serious misrepresentation of the facts, and hostile act," he told the meeja on Air Force One, "I am increasing the Tariff on Canada by 10% over and above what they are paying now."

What did you see in the ad that could have triggered the Donald's ire? To me, it sounds as if President Reagan is in favour of free trade, and against tariffs, which he called "an outdated notion." Did I not hear correctly?

What's the point of getting even tougher on America's biggest trading partner? With Canada already under a US base tariff rate of 35%, the impact of President Trump’s latest gut-punch isn't immediately clear.

The 35% rate doesn't apply to most Canadian goods because of an exemption for products and shipments made within the rules of the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Steel and aluminum products aren't covered by that waiver, and Canadian-made cars and trucks are only partially eligible for exemption from the 25% tariffs on most foreign autos.

Marx Carnage, the prime minister of Canuckistan, has been engaged in protracted talks with the US of A to lower the levies and has already lowered his elbow to knee-level. [I assume Canuck readers will get that one. Ed.] After speaking to Mr Carnage, Ontario Premier Doug Ford said the province will pause its ad campaign tomorrow, now that the ads have been seen by millions of Americans, including President Trump, when they interrupted the World Series.

But the damage has been done. The clash has reignited uncertainty between two partners that exchanged $900 billion in goods and services last year and have closely interwoven supply chains for major industries. IMHO, the ongoing trade war benefits no-one, no-one. Let the man who authored The Art of the Deal get on with some sesrious deal-making.

VIDEO: Canada needs a politician with balls

Being fundamentally anti-social, Walt doesn't do Facebook, so misses the tiny bit of gold that's posted somewhere in the huge pile of dross. Thanks and a tip o' the toque to Agent 6 who picked up this gem from Tajana Cekic, who, in just a couple of minutes, presents her plan for fixing Canada.

Wow, eh!!! I'll vote for her if I get the chance!

BTW, if you want to see what the libtard who's just been elected mayor of Edmonton AB looks like -- Tajana says he looks like "a circumcised penis" -- Google "Andrew Knack". That's his name. No kidding. I predict he'll be known as "the Knacker" until the next election at which he'll be defeated.

Your Singhs today (Niagara edition)

Here's a mug shot of Manpreet Singh, a typical Brampton ON man who is no longer in Brampton. Why? Because he's on the lam, believed by police to have caught the next plane to India (location of "free Khalistan") after having murdered 27-year-old Amanpreet Saini, a North York woman and co-religionist.

Ms Sami's lifeless body was found with traumatic injuries at Charles Daley Park in Lincoln ON, part of Niagara Region, earlier this week. For reasons known only to themselves (so far), police have issued a Canada-wide warrant charging Mr Singh with second-degree murder. The cops figured Mr Singh had left Canada when he failed to show up for his regular shift at DiversityTransport Ltd.

Sounds like an honour killing, doesn't it? Actually, no. Such crimes are more common amongst followers of the Prophet. Sikh men are more likely to kill their women in some sort of crime of passion -- rejection of a marriage proposal, for example -- hence the charge of second-degree murder.

With typical Canadian political correctness, police have said nothing about Mr Singh's citizenship -- he's assumed to be an Indian national -- or his status in Canada, which we can safely assume is "irregular". If our assumption turns out to be wrong, we'll post an apology here. Don't hold your breath.

Your Singhs today (Ontario, California edition)

May we be frank. [You can be "Frank"; I'll remain "Ed." Ed.] It doesn't matter where in North America you live. Whether it's in Ontario, the Canadian province, or Ontario, the city of California, if you hear a report of a horrific highway accident involving a tractor-trailer, the chances areway higher than 50-50 that the driver is going to be a Sikh whose immigration status is, shall we say, questionable.

Like this guy, 21-year-old Jashanpreet Singh, from Yuba City CA. Mr Singh is accused of causing a horrific eight-car pile-up on 10 Freeway in Ontario CA that killed three people. Dashcam footage captured the moment his big rig [owned by Diversity Transport Inc.? Ed.] rammed into the back of a traffic queue after failing to reduce speed shortly before 1315 last Tuesday.

Terrifying video captured by a witness shows the semi-truck smashing into the back of a white SUV, before causing a red sedan to erupt into a fireball as it was pushed into another truck. Eight vehicles, including four semis, were impacted.

Witness Jason Calmelat saw the whole crash from a parking lot facing the freeway. He told KTLA-TV, "The red truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when everyone else was stopped. He didn’t hit his brakes, he didn’t try to slow down, he just went full force into the back of another truck, crushing two other cars."

Two victims were pronounced dead on the scene. A third died after being taken to the hospital. The remaining fatalities were severely burned in the flames and have not been identified. Four others were taken to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries. The condition of the survivors has not been released

According to KTLA, Mr Singh was arrested at the scene for being under the influence of drugs and vehicular manslaughter. Turns out this is not his first brush with the law. He is an undocumented immigrant (read: illegal alien) from India who was caught and released at the California border in 2022.

Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin reported on X that ICE placed a detainer request on Mr Singh, which would allow the San Bernardino County Sheriff's office to hold him past the normal release time. A CHiP officer told the meeja, "He was eventually transported to the hospital, and he was checked out by the medical staff, and our officers determined he was driving under the influence of drugs."

Until a liberal judge releases him on bail, he is residing at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. I won't say "stay tuned" because stories like this are becoming so routine (see first paragraph above) that the lickspittle media don't even bother doing follow-ups.

VIDEO: "way out of her league": Victor Davis Hanson on KBJ

Are we really to believe that black (or Black, if you like) people are "disabled"? Really? That's what SCOTUS Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson says in her argument for redistricting (read: gerrymandering) that will creatge more black majority districts, so there'll be more POCs in Congress, yada yada yada, Black Power, yada yada yada. Is she serious?

On today’s episode of "Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words", Victor and Jack discuss how a recent Supreme Court oral argument reminds us just how “out of her depth” Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson truly is.

But that's not all. If you're still making up your mind about watching, you really should, if only to hear about the true "brilliance" behind Sen. John Fetterman’s PR strategy. But wait (as Vice Offer used to say), there's more. You'll also hear why the Left now trying to "cancel" Taylor Swift, because she wants to have a baby. What's wrong with that? Mr Hanson explains.

The key point of today's discussion, IMHO, comes almost at the end, around the 65 minure mark. Mr Hanson argues that the sick society we live in now is a classic example of "civilizational regression". Keep that phrase in mind. The question before us is: can civilizational regression be stopped? The likely answer is cringe-worthy.

HOCKEY VIDEOS: Brad Marchand goes off on chicken Swede

Always liked Brad Marchand, good Acadian (American readers, think "Cajun") boy from around Halifax NS. In 2018, when he was playing for the Boston Bruins, he got into hot water for licking Tampa Bay's Ryan Callahan during a heated playoff match. In this first video he explains why he did that.

He got told, really told, by the NHL not to do that kind of thing, lest people think hockey was becoming as gay as soccer. But no such warning could quell or abate the famous Marchand temper, which found other ways to express itself.

Fast forward to this past Saturday night, when the veteran Marchand, now with the Florida Panthers, absolutely loses it after a crosscheck from behind by your typical chicken Swede (h/t Don Cherry for that phrase) Rasmus Dahlin, in the match between the Panthers and Buffalo Sabres.

Dahlin turtled, afraid to take the consequences of poking the bear, and Marchand pounces on him, yanks off his (Dahlin's) helmet, then tears it apart while sitting in the sin bin.

Cost to Dahlin (fine imposed by the NHL Dept. of Player Safety), $5000. Entertainment value: priceless! Says Poor Len Canayen, "Wouldn't he look great in a Habs sweater?!"

Your Singhs today (northern Ontario edition)

Two individuals from Brampton ON are facing weapons trafficking charges under the Criminal Code of Canada after an eight-month investigation. Do we have to say more or have Canadian readers already guessed what kind of people are involved.

Well OK, here's a little graphic from "Project Davos" of the Ontario Provincial Police. Details below.

Project Davos* is an "intelligence-led investigation" into alleged [sic] drug trafficking, begun in February of this year by the Ontario Provincial Police. On September 11th, investigators identified a tractor-trailer linked to the investigation travelling northbound fromToronto. The big rig was subsequently stopped at a Ministry of Transportation inspection station near Temiskaming Shores, in northern Ontario.

With lots of glory available -- citations and doubles all round -- the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, OPP Provincial Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team, OPP North East Region Community Street Crime Units, OPP Canine Unit and Temiskaming OPP execute a search warrant, and seized 72 illegal handguns and 66 prohibited devices. According to the OPP's Inspector Knacker, preliminary tracing results indicate all handguns originated in the US of A.

As a result of the investigation, Balraj Singh, 31 of Brampton, has been charged with 72 counts of weapons trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine). Kawalbir Singh, 21 of Brampton, has been charged with 72 counts of weapons trafficking. Nothing was said about the miscreants' country of origin or status in Canuckistan. Nor was the name of the trucking line revealed. Surely it cannot have been Diversity Transport Ltd.

Both accused were remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear this coming Wednesday at the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto, where they will make the ritual promise to appear for trial and not go back where they came from.

* Why do you suppose the OPP investigation is called "Project Davos"? Surely the exponential increase in the number of Sikhs charged with behaving badly in Canada has nothing to do with the WEF's Great Replacement or New World Order projects!

Wilfully blind to reality Dept.: The information as to the identity of the alleged [sic] Sikh criminals was gained from a tiny local newspaper called the North Bay Nugget. Canada's lickspittle mass media, notably Global TV News, said only that "two men from Brampton" were charged. Mustn't feed the fires of anti-Sikh racism, you know.

Poor Len analyzes Canadiens' first 6 games

Ed. here. Walt is still in Canada. I suspect he is indulging in Boneshaker IPA with our National Sports Editor, Poor Len Canayen, who has send these comments on the Montréal Canadiens season, thus far.

Tank youse, Hed. Let's start with stats. Following last night's loss to the New York Rangers -- which the Habs deserved, by the way -- they have registered 4 wins and 2 losses, for 8 points and a .667 average.

That's good for second place in the Atlantic Division, behind the much improved Detroit Red Wings, who also have 8 points but have a game in hand.

If la Sainte Flannelle can maintain the .667 average through the season, they should wind up with 109 point and a berth in the playoffs.
But I did say "if".

The 2025-26 Canadiens are fast and super-exciting to watch, especially when Lane Hutson and Ivan Demidov. Yet, of the four games they won, they had to come from behind to win two in overtime. And the power play still hasn't hit top gear. Last night, Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki extended their point streaks to five games. Caufield sniped five goals in the first five games.

Noah Dobson scored his first goal in a Habs sweater and has fitted in nicely. After scoring three goals in each of the first three games, Zach Bolduc has gone a bit quiet but looks like a good acquisition. Kirby Dach appeared to have shaken off the rust, but is still injury-prone, missing last night's game with a lower-bodyinjury, as did Kaiden Guhle, who's going to be out for a month.

If the Habs are to sustain their early momentum, some tweaks must be made, not to the strategy of coach Martin St-Louis, but to the lineup. The power play has struggled. Too much passing and not enough presence4 in front of the enemy's net. How about putting Demidov on the right and dropping Juray Slavkovsky down to second, with Dach at centre and, say, Bolduc at left.

Notice I didn't mention Patrik Laine? Apart from some time on the power play, he's been relegated to the fourth line, where, if he doesn't do much good, at least does little harm. Did anyone else note that while he sat out of last night's game (lower body injury, they said), Jonathan Marchessault was absent from the Nashville Predators lineup vs Winnipeg. Marchessault was showcased in Thursday night's game vs Montréal and I wonder if a trade for Laine is in the works. Marchessault would love to be at home in Québec and It would be a great deal for the Habs.

Then there's the goaltending conundrum. Les Glorieux have scored 21 goals in their first six games, but have allowed 18, a differential of +3. Problem: it wasn't backup goalie Jakub Dobes who allowed most of those. It was the supposed starter Samuel Montembeault. His GAA is 3.26 (sv% .857), compared with Dobes' 1.46 (.940), although the latter played in just two games. Monty's record is 2-2, while Dobes' is 2-0. Do I need to say more? [Please do. Ed.]

Hokay den, here's what dey shoujld do. Send Montembeault down to Laval for some reconditioning, and bring up hot prospect Jacob Fowler to play backup to Dobes for the next few games. See what happens.

[You seem to have a liking for goalies named "Jacob". Ed.] Yeah, well, remember Jake Allen? At the ripe old age of 35, he's still playing for the New Jersey Devils, and putting up respectable numbers. I rest my case. [I think there's still one in there that hasn't been opened. Ed.] Tank youse, Hed.

So, farewell then, Grand Old Duke of York

Walt notes with interest [but not much. Ed.] that Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, has decided to give up his titles, including the Duke of York. He has been under increasing pressure over his links with sex offender and suicide victim [??? Ed.] Jeffrey Epstein, with calls for Buckingham Palace to take action against him.

That now seems to have resulted in the prince deciding to voluntarily hand back his titles and to give up membership of the Order of the Garter, the oldest and most senior order of chivalry in Britain.

He said he continued to "vigorously deny the accusations against me. In discussion with the King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.

"I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first." As always... Yeah... LMAO. Well, Randy Andy has form. Dukes of York have provided British commoners with amusement for centuries, as witness this little ditty.

Confessions of a Baptist

Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, "Don't do it!"
He said, "Nobody loves me."
I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?"
He said, "Yes."

I said, "Are you a Christian or a Jew?"
He said, "A Christian."
I said, "Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?"
He said, "Protestant."
I said, "Me, too! What denomination?"
He said, "Baptist."

I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?"
He said, "Northern Baptist."
I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?"
He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist."

I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?"
He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region."
I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?"
He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912."

I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him off the bridge.

From a comment by "Hog of Steel" on a Breitbart News story about the upcoming prayer meeting of two heretics (Pope Leo XIV and King Charles III) at the Vatican. According to Mr Steel, this was voted (he doesn't say by whom) the funniest religious joke of all time in 2005.

VIDEO: "Don't 'upgrade' to Windows 11!"

Ed. here. As reported yesterday, Walt bailede on us a couple of days ago. He said he was going to Canada to take the cure, although for what was never specified. I've figured out, though, that our crafty leader didn't want to be here on October 14th, the day that support for Windows 10 officially ended.

Pretty smart, Walt! Final (?) updates have been installing themselves on our PC for two days now, causing chaos in its BIOS and UEFI and everything else. I don't actually know what "BIOS" and "UEFI" mean. What I do know that in the time it took Win10 to boot this morning, I was able to give myself a complete pedicure and darn a pair of socks which my toenails had made holes in.

But I swear by Phil, the Prince of Insufficient Light, that I will not be stampeded into buying a new computer running Windows 11, nor will I try to work my way through one of the many tutorials now appearing on YouTube about how to upgrade your computer to run Win11, even if Microsoft tells you it's incompatible.

In fact, I might just find some computer geek who can make my PC run Linux, and to heck with Bill Gates and his infernal software. I (and I speak on behalf of Walt, too) refuse to be a slave to Microsoft any longer!

I admit to having been influenced by this video from Rob Braxman, the Internet Privacy Guy. Mr Braxman warns that we are losing our Internet privacy and Internet security every day. Our data is collected with endless permanent data mining. Windows 10 users, he says, are now facing the End-of-Life of their OS since their particular computers have been classified as computer junk by Microsoft. So you may be teased to thinking that it is time to move to Windows 11. Don't!

What alternative is there? Mr Braxman argues that it's time to dump Windows for good. In this video, he reveals the Microsoft plan for your life and how it will own your computer though you're the one who paid for it. And, he warns, they will do everything in their power to prevent you from modifying it. This is certainly worth thinking about -- if not now, the next time it takes your computer 15 minutes to boot Win10. It's not going to get any better!

Footnote: We trust you've noted the backdrop behind Bill Gates in this photo. Yes, folks, it's all part of the plan for the New World Order.

Walt is away

Ed. here. Walt is in Canada, and will stay there until he's sure about the statute of limitations... or Monday... which ever comes first. We may have something from Poor Len after tonight's match between the Habs and Predators, but in the meantime, a meme to make you chuckle.

Your Singhs today (Manitoba edition)

Meet Navjeet Singh, the subject of considerable discussion in the Manitoba legislature last week. Mr Singh is a Sikh -- they have to take off their turbans for mug shots -- who came to Canuckistan from India in 2020 as an international student.

At the notorious Singh School of Truck Driving in Brampton ON, he learned how to shut off the cab data recorder (like an airplane's "black box") and to doctor driving logs. In 2022 he got a work permit, and, still residing in Brampton, went to work for Diversity Transport Lines.

Mr Singh was behind the wheel of a semi when, in November of 2024, it collided with a car near the rural Manitoba town of Altona, killing a mother and daughter coming home from shopping.

The truck had run through a stop sign on a clear evening. Witnesses and wreckage indicated that it had been travelling at high speed. The Mounties went to the hospital to talk to Mr Singh, who was unimjured but (he said) too shaken up to provide a statement. He promised to come to the station for an interview the next day, and the cops, fearful of being called "racist", opted at that point not to lay charges.

Within a matter of hours Mr Singh had left both the hospital and, as it turns out, the Great No-longer-white North. He was charged in absentia with dangerous driving causing death, and was finally arrested last August at Toronto's Pearson International Airport after re-entering the country on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from India.

Mr Singh's lawyer told a Manitoba provincial court that he returned voluntarily to face justice... after eluding it for nine months. Counsel for the Crown suggested that the accused be locked in a closet from which the air could be sucked out through a straw [Ed., please factcheck that] and argued his release would "endanger public confidence in the justice system."

The presiding judge, keeping in mind the Trudeau dictum that "diversity is Canada's strength", granted bail anyway, on the strength of a C$7500 (= $5400 in real money) provided by another Singh. The judge also required Mr Singh to surrender his passport and driver's licence, to obviate the risk he would take another Indian vacation or resume his career.

Mr Singh faces other conditions, including a curfew and total ban on driving, the imposition of which gave rise to muffled guffaws in the well of the court, since it is well known that such orders are almost never enforced. Just last week Ontario Provincial Police pulled over a driver who had been driving at 144 km/h in a 100 km/h zone, only to find that his licence has been suspended for 40 years. The 60-year-old driver from Toronto had already been convicted of driving while suspended 20 times!

Just in case Mr Singh tries to do another bunk, airport personnel have been asked to be on the lookout for anyone named Singh, sporting a beard and a turban, trying to board a flight to India. Laughter is still echoing through the corridors of YWG and YYZ.

The ongoing "deculturation of Europe" can only result in the destruction of Western civilzation

Ray Oliver Dreher Jr, aka Rod Dreher, is an American conservative writer and editor living in Hungary. He is a critic of large-scale immigration to the US of A and Europe, and a staunch defender of  the concept of Western civilization.

Mr Dreher has been condemned by the usual suspects for his on Jean Raspail's 1973 novel The Camp of the Saints. To be fair, he strongly criticized the novel's use of derogatory language to describe non-Westerners and called the book bad, both aesthetically and morally. But he also referred to the "valuable" and "prophetic" lessons that can be drawn from the work, including from Raspail's argument, which Dreher presents as potentially correct, that "the only way to defend Western civilization from these invaders [non-Western immigrants] is to be willing to shed their blood."

He refers again to M Raspail's book in his diary entry published October 12th, headed Role Of Church Elites In Europe's Suicide. The subhead: "Christians Cannot Afford To Trust Ecclesial Leaders To Defend The Faith". A big thank-you to BCF for directing us to the Substack post, from which we take this excerpt:

...we all heard a speech by Thibault de Montbrial...[who] has a new book coming out in France next week, about what he regards as his country's "emergency" situation.... He warned that western Europeans should prepare themselves for mass violence at the level the continent...hasn’t seen since the end of World War II. That is to say (though he didn’t use this term), civil wars....

He explained that Islamists have managed to infiltrate both public and private institutions all over Europe, and are using it to their advantage. How did all this happen?

De Montbrial, a practicing Catholic, said that the core of the problem is cultural — namely, that France (and Europe) has lost all sense of who and what it is. It has forgotten its past, and any sense of connection to it, and has lost its identity. (This is what Renaud Camus calls “The Great Deculturation”).

How do you expect young people to resist people (Muslims) who are hostile to Western civilization, and who have a strong culture, if you have produced a generation, or generations, of people who have no culture?

[De Montbrial] said that in France, Muslim activists are even succeeding in winning over the hearts and minds of no small number of native-born French, by telling them, basically: "Look around you at what a nihilistic, pornified disaster modern Europe has become. Is that really what you want? Convert, join the ummah, and gain a story. Become part of the glorious march through history of the sons and daughters of the Prophet." It works, he said....

This, he went on, is why though France and other European countries have to use legal, political, and law enforcement means to fight this stuff, the core of the struggle is cultural. If Europe doesn’t recover its sense of history and culture, and in a meaningful way, such that its people are willing to fight to defend it, all will be lost.

A subsequent speaker made the point more explicit: at the heart of culture is cult, or religion. Either Europe re-Christianizes, or it Islamizes. There is no stable third option.

Your Singhs today (or, how your cheque got "lost" in the mail)

What have we here? Why it's a map showing the southern half of the Region of Peel (Ontario, Canada), comprising the cities of Brampton and Missussauga.

White people are in the minority in these cities, particularly Brampton, where mst of the men wear turbans and are named Singh.

What does the map show? Areas infested by bedbugs? The sites of traffic accidents involving transport trucks?

Nooooo. According to the Peel Regional Police "Project Undeliverable", it shows "hotspots" into which mail disappears, never to be seen again.

Until September 8th and 9th, that is, when search warrants were executed at multiple residences in Mississauga. The Peelers recovered 465 pieces of stolen mail, worth more than C$400,000 (about $288,000 in real money.)

Included were more 255 cheques, 182 credit cards, 35 passports and other pieces of government ID, and 20 gift cards.

.465 pieces of stolen mail, with a total worth in excess of $400,000 255 cheques 182 credit cards 35 government identifications 20 gift cards

These were stolen from residential mailboxes in the areas highlighted on the map by "a group of individuals working together." The Sikhs arrested, now facing a total of 344 charges under the Criminal Code of Canada, are: Sumanpreet Singh, Gurdeep Singh Chattha, Jashandeep Singh Jattana, Harman Singh, Jasanpreet Singh, Manroop Singh, Rajbir Singh, and Upinderjit Singh.

As to their citizenship and immigration status, the Peel Regional Police would say only that they "are actively engaged with the Peel Crown Attorney’s Office and the Canada Border Services Agency which will determine whether removal of accused foreign nationals from Canada may be pursued as part of the judicial process."

The judicial process began with the customary bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton, after which (according to an unverified report) the accused were released so they could resume work as letter carriers and truck drivers.

You had to sit next to the airliner toilet? Gee, that's too bad...

And now for something completely different....

A passenger on the Scandinavian airline SAS has failed in his complaint about allegedly unpleasant circumstances while flying due to the toilet's proximity to his premium-class seat. The Norwegian news agency NTB reports that the man demanded 2,000 Norwegian kroner ($198) in compensation.

Despite his costlier ticket, he had to endure a line of waiting passengers' backsides in his vicinity during the flight from Oslo to Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt. Moreover, according to the complaint, some people queuing broke wind while he was eating his meal.

As a result, he maintained that he was unable to enjoy his flight at the beginning of the year. SAS rejected the petition, noting that the flight had proceeded without incident. It could therefore not offer him any compensation for his experience on board.

The supervisory authority's complaints office agreed with the airline's position that no compensation should be paid.

The failure of multiculturalism: the British and Irish examples

For decades now the liberal democratic governments of the AABC countries (America, Australia, Britain, and Canada) as well as western Europe, notably France and (above all) Germany, have forced on their people the premise of the Great Replacement, i.e. that multiculturalism is a Good Thing.

It is not. Enter "multiculturalism" in the search window above and you will find numerous articles on the subject proving that the premise is wrong and reporting the results of the disastrous experiment in One-Worldism and the attempt to force human persons to love one another. You'll also find links to a number of videos which have been scrubbed from YouTube by the wokesters who refuse, like the Three Wise Monkeys, to see the truth which is there to be seen.

Today we present yet another article on the failure of multiculturalism, this one by London-based journalist Michael Murphy. Mr Murphy created a fine documentary entitled "Ireland is full! Anti-immigration backlash in Ireland", which we suggest you watch ASAP, before it too disappears. Mr Murphy writes:

Now we know what globalizing the intifada looks like. In Manchester last week, a rabbi addressed his congregation in a robe stained with blood. Hours earlier, on Yom Kippur, Judaism’s holiest day, a jihadi terrorist rammed a car into worshippers at the gates of a synagogue before going on a stabbing spree. By the time officers shot the attacker, two were dead and four more injured, some from accidental police fire.

To show they would not be cowed by violence, the congregation resumed their prayers as Britain’s Special Air Service (SAS) forces patrolled outside. Underneath the defiant posture, though, many of them will likely have wondered whether Britain remains a safe home for Jews. For the first time in centuries, the answer is not straightforward. Neither are the solutions to this predicament.

Britain’s multicultural project rested on assumptions that have not survived contact with reality. We told ourselves immigrants would assimilate, or at least bring only harmless aspects of their cultures with them. Diversity was held up as our greatest strength. It has been apparent for some time that this was a monumental act of self-delusion. While many immigrants do share our values and become productive members of society, the people who don’t are more numerous than we have long cared to admit, and are wreaking havoc.

Consider the Manchester killer. Jihad al-Shamie was born in Syria and brought to the United Kindgom as a child, attaining citizenship in the mid-2000s. With that passport he was thenceforth regarded by our institutions as British. The problem is that when a bearded man in a suicide vest begins murdering Jews “in the name of the Islamic State,” as he put it, what once seemed like a harmless accommodation becomes an affront to the British people themselves.

Al-Shamie was less an example of diversity being our strength than a life-long liability. He dropped out of university, spent his life unemployed and housed at public expense, and was earlier this year arrested for rape. His online footprint is limited to a 2012 death threat against a parliamentarian who had defended Israel.

What kind of society not only tolerates but subsidizes such a man? The same country that, when the Islamist refugee Salman Abedi murdered 22 people at a Manchester concert in 2017, consoled itself with the pop lyric “don’t look back in anger.” The same country that for decades ignored the rape of thousands of white girls by mostly Pakistani grooming gangs to avoid accusations of racism. A country that insisted Islam is simply a “religion of peace,” even as Islamism continued to inspire atrocities on its soil.

This posture is clearly self-destructive. It breeds resentment among the native population, and cynicism among immigrants, including those who have fully embraced British society, culture and norms, and who now see Britain as unwilling to defend itself. It has now also made life unsafe for other minorities.

Britain spent centuries dissolving its own tribal rivalries to unite under the banner of one nation. But it has since managed within two generations to begin to re-tribalize. Its melting pot has proved too lukewarm. Take al-Shamie’s father, Faraj, a trauma surgeon who publicly denounced his son’s killings. He seemed at first to be the model immigrant, until his own views were unearthed: he had called on social media for Israel’s destruction, also praising Hamas and even Hitler. The rot in this case, as with many others, was inter-generational.

The authorities may have missed a window in 2012 to flag al-Shamie. But they arguably missed a greater opportunity to prevent his family coming to the U.K. in the first place. It has long been a matter of liberal etiquette to pretend that all immigrants arrive with only superficial differences and are, in the round, a net bonus to Britain.

This mantra has helped the establishment dismiss calls for a more selective admissions system. Yet, too many migrants arrive with the prejudices and ideological baggage one might expect. Polling by the Henry Jackson Society, for instance, found that 53% of British Muslim men believe Jews have too much power, while fewer than a quarter think enforcing Sharia law would be undesirable.

Al-Shamie senior’s admiration for Hamas is also far from unusual. While most British Muslims would no doubt abhor the murder of Jews, there is a dissonance in the fact that many of them are supportive of Hamas, which is dedicated to killing Jews. Clearly, immigrants need to be more thoroughly screened before they are admitted.

This reality undermines a central pillar of Britain’s immigration mythology. We convinced ourselves that the great danger was native prejudice against newcomers, despite the country’s exemplary tolerance. The far greater threat has been importing hatreds we had long tamed within our own society.

At core, Britain’s multicultural experiment is failing because we insisted on seeing the world in our own image. Rather than admit it, our leaders have constructed an alternative reality in which failures are repackaged as opportunities for cohesion, with the leaders of otherwise siloed communities uniting briefly to denounce extremists. But the problem is far more daunting, and possibly intractable, than our politicians are willing to admit.

This post is a shortened version of "British multiculturalism has failed", which appeared in Canada's National Post, 11/10/25.

VIDEO: Victor Davis Hanson talks with Walt's favorite senator

Why would you be surprised? Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) is the most insightful, acerbic and entertaining members of the chamber of sober second thought.

A lot of people, when they first hear him speak, think, oh, there's another cracker, a relic from the ante-bellum South. In fact he has earned two degrees in law (the second one from Oxford, no less!) and clearly knows his stuff when it comes to how laws are made, how courts work, and the consequences of not following the law.

In this video, our old friend Victor Davis Hanson interviews Senator Kennedy about his new book How to Test Negative for Stupid: And Why Washington Never Will. They discuss early Biden cognitive trouble, scared and tone-deaf Democrats, federal and state juridication and more. Worth listening to!

Your Singhs today (Alberta truckers edition)

The Epoch Times reported yesterday that the Canadian province of Alberta is stepping up efforts to make trucking safer in the province. How? By shutting down a number of driving schools and commercial trucking companies that it says are operating "below acceptable standards".

Walt was disappointed that the truck driving schools and trucking lines were not named, likely to avoid stoking the fires of anti-Sikh backlash which are sweeping Canuckistan. A highly placed source has identified two of the schools as the Calgary and Edmonton branches of the notorious Singh School of Truck Driving. The trucking company is thought to be Diversity Transport Inc.

The province has ordered five driver training schools to close, suspended operations for 13 commercial trucking companies, sent 39 "disciplinary letters", applied more than $100,000 in fines, issued six action plans to fix issues, and revoked the licences of 12 driving instructors, according to a recent government announcement.

They're also working to boost information sharing with the federal government and cracking down on "chameleon" trucking carriers who change their names or locations to circumvent provincial oversight.

The statement released on October 3rd went on to say that the province is also reinforcing rules related to the "Driver Inc." practice, in which companies evade payroll taxes and benefits by hiring drivers who operate their own little one-man companies as independent contractors. "These drivers often lack proper training and oversight, and are vulnerable to exploitation."

This past July 2025, a week-long commercial driver status and classification check stop revealed that 20% of the 195 drivers stopped were suspected of being "misclassified", including several temporary foreign workers and "students", like the one convicted in September of threatening and harrassing popular Sikh musician A.P. Dhillon.

The Alberta government, unlike those of Ontario, British Columbia and Canuckistan itself, is responding to growing concern -- "outrage" would be a better word -- about trucking safety and a series of deadly trucking accidents across Canada in recent months, including an October 5th collision in rural Ontario that killed two people.

In briefing material submitted this month to the federal Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities [sic], the Truck Training Schools Association of Ontario (TTSAO) wrote that the Driver Inc. model is a particular safety concern. "he Driver Inc model has fostered collusion between carriers and unscrupulous schools, resulting in compressed programs, document falsification, and the exploitation of trainees," they wrote, adding that this includes undertrained drivers, foreign workers pressured into unsafe work to keep their work visa, and truck fleets that are in poor repair and dangerous on the roads.

VIDEO: Bishop calls Vatican II "reforms" "elitist, disruptive & reckless!”

Walt regrets having been unable to attend (except in spirit) the Catholic Identity Conference held in Pittsburgh this past weekend. Clicking the link will take you to the home page where you read all about who was there, who said what, and what was achieved. You can also watch the livestream and access the video library.

One of the featured speakers was the Most Rev. Marian Eleganti, Auxiliary Bishop of Coire, Switzerland, who had recently issued a very powerful statement condeming the Second Vatican Council (aka Vatican II) and its poisoned fruits.

English is not Bishop Eleganti's native tongue, and he speaks with a thick accent, so, in creating a promotional video for the CIC, Emcee Michael Matt (editor of the Remnant newspaper, read the prelate's statement on the Remnant Underground. This is a fine dramatic reading of the bishop's summation of how the "spirit of Vatican II" led to the crisis faced by Holy Mother Church today.

Book review: "The Jewish War" + BONUS VIDEO

Yesterday was the day fixed by President Trump by which Hamas had to accept his plan to bring an end to the unpleasantness in Gaza... or else!

While we wait for all hell to break loose. let us consider the words of Jewish Roman historian Flavius Josephus ben Matthias, in The Jewish War

1950 years ago, Josephus wrote his contemporary account of the great Jewish rebellion against Rome. The insurrection began in 66 A.D. and lasted seven years.

The Middle East described by Josephus is perfectly familiar -- a politically fractionalized land populated with a humble of ethnic and religious groups, including Jews, Arabs, Egyptians, Syrians, Greeks, Italians and a tiny community of Christians.

Each detests the others. Extreme political and theological views prevail. Terrorism and assassination are commonplace. Alliances are momentary. Grudges, personal. And neither colonial subjugation nor local autonomy suffices to keep the peace.

The political events are familiar too. Rome first intervened in the region as a peace keeper, brokering a dispute between Seleucid Mesopotamia and Ptolemaic Egypt. Later the Middle East appeared vital to Rome because Roman trade routes passed through the region and because of the Parthian threat to the empire's eastern frontier. The Romans were lured into deeper military and political involvement, and this triggered continual insurrections.

The rebellion of 66 A.D., however, did not begin as a war of national liberation. It began as communal rioting in the seaport town of Caesarea -- Greeks verus Jews over an empty lot next to a synagogue. This inspired sympathetic rioting in Jerusalem, and a ham-handed Roman attempt to quell the disturbances worsened them instead. The result was one of those great wallows siege, massacre, treachery, persecution, revenge, plunder, and self-destruction to which the Middle East is so often host.

The rising in Jerusalem set off a reaction among the non-Jewish inhabitants of the region, who indulged themselves in wild pogroms, with killings taking place as far away as Damascus and Alexandria. Roman forces were not sufficient to quash the rebellion. Jewish forces were not sufficient to defeat the Romans in open combat. Guerilla warfare ensured, with predictable consequences to the populace.

The Romans were noted for vigorous foreign policy responses. The Emperor Nero sent Vespasian and three legions to pacify Judea. Using a great deal of slaughter and some tactics, Vespasian drove the rebels back to the environs of Jerusalem. He was prevented from ending the war, however, by political confusion at home. Sound familiar? Nero was ousted and three worthless and short-lived emperors followed within the year.

The Jews made use of this breathing space by engaging in urban warfare with themselves and committing all conceivable and some inconceivable atrocities upon their co-religionists. Vespasian himself was finally proclaimed emperor by the Roman army, and the war was resumed under the direction of his son Titus.

After a prolonged and disgusting siege, Jerusalem was taken. And after another prolonged and even more disgusting siege, Masada, the last rebel stronghold fell. The Temple was destroyed, the Jewish upper classes were dispersed, and a Roman army was permanently stationed in Judea. Even then the peace did not hold, and rebellion would break out anew during the reign of Hadrian.

Normally the patterns of history are reassuring. But in The Jewish War, the shock of recognition is just a shock. Here, sixty generations ago, is nearly the same cast of characters engaged in exactly the same obsessive, vicious, and fatal behaviour for the same terrifying reasons on the same cursed, reeking, ugly chunk of land.

Who fails to learn history is doomed to repeat it. But was seemed doomed to repeat this history anyway.

This review is adapted from "The Two-Thousand-Year-Old U.S. Middle East Policy Expert", by the late, great P.J. O'Rourke, in a little-known libertarian magazine called Inquiry, c. 1979. While you're letting that sink it, here's a very à propos musical interlude.

Meanwhile, a conservative woman becomes Prime Minister of Japan

We were so preoccupied with predicting the rise to power of the hard right in Europe that we nearly missed the game-changing election in Japan, where Sanae Takaichi, a hard right conservative, defeated four other colleagues to become leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). Thus she is set to become Japan's first female prime minister when the Diet meets to elect a new one.

Ms Takaichi's vision of a staunchly conservative party prevailed over the calls of outgoing PM Shinjiro Koizumi for an inclusive approach. Her election as leader marks a triumph for the LDP's conservative wing. Her liberal critics are wringing their hands about the party's abrupt turn to the right, putting it down to "the Trump effect".

Viewed from our corner of the global forest, it's yet another sign of the trend in Western countries -- that includes Japan -- towards nationalistic, culture-warrior politics.

Ms Takaichi entered  the Japanese parliament in 1993, eventually serving atop the communications ministry and, most recently, as minister for economic security. Her election, however, is hardly a triumph for feminism or the idea of "gender equity".

A staunch social conservative, she opposes giving married couples the legal right to keep separate surnames or allowing female succession in the imperial line. Her political role model is Britain's "Iron Lady", Margaret Thatcher.

But her true mentor was the late prime minister Shinzo Abe, to whose policy agenda Ms Takaichi's bears strong similarities. She declares that "Japan is back!", favours stronger Japanese armed forces, and wants to complete Mr Abe's mission to revise the constitution imposed on Japan by America at the end of WWII.

Ms Takaichi also shares her mentor's revisionist views on Japan’s wartime history. She wants to make the LDP a party "that promotes pride in [Japan’s] traditions and history." She has been a regular visitor to the Yasukuni Shrine, which houses the spirits of Japan’s war dead, including war criminals. If she goes as prime minister, during the shrine's fall festival which begins on October 17th, she will be the first Japanese leader to do so in more than a decade.

President Trump is expected to visit Tokyo on October 27th. Ms Takaishi, considers the alliance with the US of A the cornerstone of Japan's security. She will probably try to strengthen ties with Mr Trump through their shared friendship with Mr Abe. Whether she will attempt to modify the latest trade agreement between the two countries is an open question, given that Ms Takaishi, has an expansionist economic agenda.

The selection of Ms Takaishi comes amidst growing populist sentiment in Japan, a country in which (unlike many Western countries) tradition is still respected and valued. Some upstart populist parties that have made inroads in recent elections. By choosing Ms Takaichi, the LDP is signalling an intention to win back right-wing voters who abandoned in favour of some who have played to increasing resentment over a growing number of foreign workers and tourists.

Ms Takaichi clearly understands popular sentiment. In her victory speech she vowed to "work, work, work" to rebuild the country and revive her country. She didn't say "Make Japan great again"... but she didn't need to.

"Hard right" close to taking power in Netherlands (and Europe)

After a decade of swelling anger over mass immigration, housing, and the brutal cost of living, nationalist parties are poised to take power across Europe.

In 2021, countries like Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Belgium were governed by politicians who had led western Europe in the familiar, moderate style that had predominated there since the end of WWII. Upstart nationalists were gaining ground, but were largely excluded from governing coalitions, and seen as troublemakers rather than serious players. It has taken them just four years to go from the margins to the cusp of leading the continent's largest economies.

Now it is the establishment that is floundering on the brink of irrelevance as populists and nationalists evolve into the first choice for conservatives, angry youth, and those who feel like the traditional parties do not work for them. What started as protest votes have evolved into a permanent political force.

The Dutch will vote this month in a snap election, and the nationalist right will likely once again emerge as the largest force in the country's politics. It has been just two years since the last election in the Netherlands, in which the Party for Freedom (PVV) led by Geert Wilders won the most seats in the Dutch parliament.

The PVV is staunchly nationalist, and defined by opposition to mass immigration and multiculturalism. Following the 2023 election, the PVV formed a rickety government with the other parties on the condition that Mr Wilders would not become prime minister, only for the agreement to collapse earlier this year.

According to current polls, the once-dominant People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), a moderate centre-right party, is poised for its weakest showing since the 1970s. Electorally, it is hardly a threat to the PVV anymore, whose greatest competition on the right is coming from JA21, another right-wing nationalist party.

Combined, the PVV and JA21 are projected to win nearly half the seats in the Dutch parliament. In Europe’s proportional electoral systems, where parties must negotiate alliances to have a working majority, attempting to keep those parties out of power in 2025 is a stalling tactic that is delaying the inevitable.

The top issues for voters in the Netherlands are housing, immigration, and health care, with climate change plummeting as a top priority from around 30 per cent of the electorate in 2023, to just about 19 per cent today. Frustrations over migration have burst out of the realm of regular politics, with anti-immigration riots breaking out in The Hague, causing tens of thousands of euros worth of damage to the parliamentary complex there.

In February, Mr Wilders wrote on social media, "The biggest threat is that for decades we have welcomed people from other parts of the world where violence, inequality and lack of freedom dominate, with open borders and mass immigration in Europe, that we have accepted, facilitated and praised the refusal to integrate and adapt to the rules of our own society."

The inability or unwillingness of the EU’s political establishment to meaningfully tackle mass immigration or the cost of living has cost them their legitimacy, as well as the trust of ordinary citizens. Furthermore, the sheer influx of new people via immigration has strained the housing supply of most Dutch cities. Rent hikes and shrinking disposable incomes have been the result, making the Netherlands into one of the most unaffordable countries in Europe.

A similar set of issues in France has resulted in the mass rejection of the established parties of the left and right. The traditional Gaullist conservatives are edging towards irrelevance, after dominating French politics for much of the 20th century. Disaffected blue-collar workers, young people, and frustrated conservatives have shifted en masse to the National Rally (RN), a right wing nationalist party that has gained in every election since 2007.

European economies are largely stagnant or declining. A shrinking share of the shrinking pie is being eaten up by more and more people from outside the EU, and voters who feel crowded out on housing, wages, and basic services want politicians who prioritize their interests.

In Germany, the populist Alternativ für Deutschland (AfD) became the second largest party in elections earlier this year, and is now polling first in political surveys. In Britain, Nigel Farage’s Reform UK is on-track to sweep aside both the Labour and Conservative parties, with his party winning city by-elections in previous Labour strongholds like Cardiff.

Wherever populist nationalism rises in Europe, the story is the same. Parties that voters could once trust to manage their economies and societies have not satisfied concerns over immigration and rising expenses of merely living in Europe, and they are paying the price. These are not the gentle, consensus-based politics that defined Europe for so long, but the results of people feeling unheard and neglected. More “consensus” is simply a shield for further decline, and millions of Europeans are not going to reward failure any longer.

This article has been adapted from "Geert Wilders' coming triumph and the end of Europe's mushy centrists", by Geoff Russ, in the National Post (Canada), 2/10/25.
