Canadian election... as the Babylon Bee saw it

Canucks know that theirs is a nitwit country. But do they care? Evidently not. They proved it again yesterday. Gotta love those simple frostbacks, eh!

Note from Ed.: I finally figured out how to add a link to a picture. Click on the photo to read the Bee's article.

Canadian election: What hath Trump wrought?!

Ed. here. Walt has been texting one- and two-liners by phone from the Great No-longer-white North. If I wait until I put them into a coherent narrative you won't see anything until Wednesday, so I'll just copy his notes voets stoets.

- TDS drives "progressive: voters from the fringes to the less-loony Liberals.

- Pinko socialist vote collapses. NDP leader Jugmeat Singh loses  his seat, resigns as leader of the Few Democrats..

- Standings as of this writing (see timestamp): Liberals elected or leading in 168 ridings, Conservatives 144, Bloc Québécois 23, NDP 7, Greens 1 ("May? Party of one?")

- Counting of ballots halted in wee hours, just like Philadelphia. Will resume at 0930 EDT.

- Assuming no change, it's a Liberal minority government. Separatist Blocheads hold the balance of power.

- Widespread fraud alleged in Sikh majority ridings in Brampton ON and suburban Vancouver BC. 1000s of Sikhs allowed to vote; citizenship not questioned.

- "Indo-Canadians" win dozens of seats in BC, ON, and Alberta.

- Cuckservative leader Pierre Poilievre declared defeated in his own riding at 0443 EDT. 91 candidates on the ballot there in chaos orchestrated by advocates of proportional representation.

- Most incumbent cabinet ministers re-elected. Carnage cabinet will be same as Trudeau's, as they rearrange the deck chairs.

- Demented Joe Biden (or someone typing for him) goes on social media to congratulate Carnage on win for "liberal values".

- Southwestern Ontario, where they make all the cars Trump wants to tariffs, goes solidly Conservative in spite of union endorsements of NDP. Workers ignore union leadership.

- In victory speech, Carney sez, "Trump is trying to break us so that America can own us. That will never, that will never ever happen. But…we also must recognize the reality that our world has fundamentally changed." Well, duh!

That's all we have for you as dawn comes up like thunder over our cabin in the pines. Maybe there'll be more after Walt wakes up.

An accident like this could never happen in the Canadian navy

Even as we speak, America's frost-backed neighbours to the north are voting in a federal election of more than the usual significance. As they headed to the polls, President Trump reiterated for the umpteenth time his suggestion that Canadians and their nitwit country would be better off as the 51st of the Disunited States of America.

On Truth Social today he wrote,  "Elect the man [meaning himself!] who has the strength and wisdom to cut your taxes in half, increase your military power, for free, to the highest level in the World, have your Car, Steel, Aluminum, Lumber, Energy, and all other businesses, QUADRUPLE in size, WITH ZERO TARIFFS OR TAXES, if Canada becomes the cherished 51st. State of the United States of America.

"Look how beautiful this land mass would be. Free access with NO BORDER. ALL POSITIVES WITH NO NEGATIVES. IT WAS MEANT TO BE! America can no longer subsidize Canada with the Hundreds of Billions of Dollars a year that we have been spending in the past. It makes no sense unless Canada is a State!"

Walt has highlighted the part about military power because we saw a demonstration today of the power of the new US Woke Forces. Britbart News featured this headline:

It seems that earlier today a multi-million-dollar warplane fell off the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman into the Red Sea. The accident that injured one sailor, the Navy said. A tractor that was towing the fighter plane — a model that cost $67 million in 2021 — also slipped off the ship into the sea.

"The F/A-18E was actively under tow in the hangar bay when the move crew lost control of the aircraft. The aircraft and tow tractor were lost overboard," the Navy said in a statement. "Sailors towing the aircraft took immediate action to move clear of the aircraft before it fell overboard. All personnel are accounted for, with one sailor sustaining a minor injury."

The carrier and its other planes remain in action and the incident is under investigation, the Navy added. No details of recovery work were released, nor was anything said about the race, religion or sexual orientation of the sailors involved in the incident.

Walt humbly suggests that the Canucks stay with the weak little armed forces they have. Something like this could never befall the plane (note the singular) on board the HMCS Jean Chrétien, pictured below.

Meanwhile, back in the auld sod

In Eire, Easter Week is traditionally marked by Republicans with parades and marches commemorating the 1916 Rising against British rule. The tradition has now been adopted by Ireland's fast-growing anti-immigration movement/

Outside Dublin's Gardens of Remembrance, tens of thousands of anti-immigration marchers gathered for their largest protest yet. Speaking of the Irish government, an older woman carrying a commenorative wreath ranted, "They need to be dragged out by their balls!"

In the Republic, though very much not in Northern Ireland, Sinn Féin voters are by far the strongest anti-immigration constituency. Scattered across a broad spectrum of microparties, Ireland's anti-immigration movement achieved electoral success last year only in winning council seats in working-class areas of Dublin.

Judging by the fiery speeches, the protest's organisers have decided to lean strongly into capturing Sinn Féin’s disaffected urban voter base. "We don’t need big posh people to come on and represent the working class," independent candidate Gavin Pepper roared at the vast crowd outside the grand neoclassical Custom House. “"We are the working class."

Myles naGopaleen, God rest him, always referred to them as "the plain people of Ireland". Speaking for them, he would surely have used a richer epithetn that "big posh people". He might well have called them "that ignorant, self-opinionated, sod-minded, suet-brained, ham-faced, mealy-mouthed, streptococcus-ridden gang of naatural gobdaws!" Myles was never one to sugar-coat things.

Neither is newly-elected councillor Patrick Quinlan of the National Party, an identitarian movement standing on a platform of mass deportations and re-Gaelicising Ireland. He gave a speech railing against "the den of rats inside Dáil Éireann" (the Irish parliament). It was the sort of political speech that would be recognisable to historians of Ireland’s 19th-century mass movement nationalism. :They fear not chaos but our awakening," Quinlan roared, "The holy fire that blazed in our patriot dead…lives on here today. The heroes of 1916 triumphed, and so shall we."

Canucks, read before you vote! Another warning about Mark Carney

It is now less than 24 hours before Canadians go to the polls to elect a new (Conservative) government (as Walt recommends) or re-elect a tired, old (Liberal) one.

Walt apologize for not having written more about the 2025 election. It seemed as if not many of our readers were interested. Sleepwalking towards a fate worse than becoming the 51st state. In a last-minute effort to warn Canucks of the danger of voting to re-elect Blackie McBlackface's chosen successor, I refer you to Canada's Greatest Crook: How Canada Was Sold Without a Vote, by Adrian C. Spitters, CFP®.

Mr Spitters is not just a CFP®  but, as his writings reveal, a gold bug, but that's OK because in his article, he is right on target about the Liberals' "five-year plan of deception, offshore manoeuvres, and political installation executed without consent to erase Canadian sovereignty." You need a LinkedIn account to follow the link, so, for those who don't have such, here are the key points. The emphasis is Walt's.

As Canadian citizens, we are terrified that after nearly a decade of Justin Trudeau dismantling our nation from within, his replacement has already been chosen.

Not by the people. Not by voters. But by his globalist allies at the World Economic Forum and the central banking cartel that pulls their strings. That man is Mark Carney. And if you thought Trudeau was bad, Carney is the endgame.

We warned about this. As co-authors of the number one international best-selling book, It Starts With Gold, we laid out how Carney was not rising; he was being installed. Groomed by financial elites to take down Canada from within, his backers include the World Economic Forum, global banking syndicates, and supranational asset managers who treat sovereign nations as investment vehicles.

[This] is not a theory. It is a calculated series of events that have unfolded with surgical precision over five years.... [Canada has] a massive trade surplus. We are rich in gold, water, oil, timber, and uranium. And yet, we are drowning in debt, told to eat bugs, and scolded for using gas-powered vehicles.

From Trudeau to Carney: Phase One Ends, Phase Two Begins Why? Because this is no longer about left versus right. This is globalism versus sovereignty. Control versus freedom. And Trudeau was just phase one. Phase two is Carney. The media will push him. The corporations will back him. And the same voters who fell for Trudeau’s smile may fall again for Carney’s credentials.

We are here to issue one final warning. If Carney remains Prime Minister, we are not just losing a government. We are losing Canada.

UPDATED: Vancouver motor manslaughter the work of a madman?

Canada has a large and vibrant Filipino community. Hundreds of thousands of Pinoys and Pinays have immigrated in recent years, settling mostly in larger cities Vancouver in the west to Toronto in the east. They are not "refugees" or asylum-seekers, but economic migrants, who came to Canada in search of a better life.

The Filipino community is largely peaceful. They are too busy working to cause trouble, and, being mostly Catholic, they haven't brought with them any religious or political strife from their homeland. When they're not working (typically in service industries like hospitality and health care), they love to take part in fiestas. Singing, dancing and street food are a major part of Filipino culture.

Filipinos are regarded by other Canadians as "good immigrants". There is almost no anti-Filipino sentiment in Canada. So most Canadians will be shocked, when they wake up this morning, to hear that a ramming attack on the Lapuj-Lapu street festival in Vancouver BC killed at least nine people, and injured scores of other party-goers.

Interim Vancouver Police Chief Steve Rai says a 30-year-old Vancouver man has been arrested for the early-morning attack in which an SUV plowed through a crowded South Vancouver street at high speed. The exact number of casualties won’t be released until families have been notified.

Vancouver police say on "X" that they are "confident" the incident was not an act of terrorism. How so? And why did Chief Rai say nothing about the identity of the perp now held in custody. [He hasn't been released on bail yet? Ed.] His citizenship status (if any) and ethnicity have not been revealed. Nor has his religion. He might well be a white, born-in-Canada Quaker. That's why we haven't put up the usual "Allahu akbar!" headline... yet.

UPDATED ADDED at 1138:
In a presser at 0930 PDT, a spokesthingy for the Vancouver police said "I can tell you that the person we have in custody does have a significant history of interactions with police and health-care professionals related to mental health."

A video clip seen on network TV shows a young white man with curly blonde hair sitting up on a gurney as he was loaded into an ambulance. There was no voice-over but we infer he's the allegedly mentally disturbed individual who was behind the wheel.

So: white, Canadian-born (likely), but probably not a Quaker. That's 2 out of 3. We're now down to a mass killing by a lone wolf -- one of the many individuals with "issues" loose on our streets. That's our sick society. Does any "leader" have a plan to address this problem? Anyone? ... ... ...

FURTHER UPDATE ADDED at 1850:
Whoa! The name of the "suspect"  now charged with eight (count `em, 8) counts of second-degree murder is Kai-Ji Adam Lo. Not white, and possibly not Canadian-born. Try Chinese. When things like this happened in southeast Asia in the days of the Empire, we used to say that someone of the Asian persuasion had "run amok". Now we just say they "have issues".

Election 2025: Are the Liberals going to fool Canadians a fourth time?

By the time you read this, Walt will be in Canada. [Too bad he didn't make it for last night's beyond-thrilling game between Washington and the Habs! Ed.] His mission is to find out whether the Canucks can really be so dumb as to re-elect the Trudeau Liberals, now fronted by Mark Carney, the member of the Laurentian elite who is already being called the Manchurian candidate.

Today's Toronto Sun editorial endorsing the opposition Conservatives, catalogues the many instances of Liberal corruption, incompetence, negligence and plain studity, including these.

* Out-of-control spending has massively increased the size and cost of the federal bureaucracy.  * Government spending on outside consultants skyrocketed to more than $15 billion in the 2022-23 fiscal year.
* Sustainable Developoment Technology Canada, the jolly green slush fund, violated its conflict of interest policies 90 times, and awarded $59 million to 10 projects that were not eligible and frequently overstated the environmental benefits of its projects.
* Meanwhile, Canada's armed forces were shamefully nickel-and-dimed, and defence spending became an international embarrassment.

There's more, lots more misgovernment, but we only have so much space. The point is that the leader of the Liberal government may be different, but his cabinet isn’t. As the Tories' TV commercials say, it's the same old Toronto-Ottawa-Montréal liberal elites, with a new(ish) puppet out front.

Some might also say their branding is new. How do you like "Canada strong" for a persuasive election slogan? Eh? Agent 3 guesses that the Gliberals think Canuck voters have forgotten "The land is strong", a slogan coined by the late Rainmaker, Senator Keith Davey (L) for the 1972 federal election which resulted in a very slim victory for the Libereals, led by... wait for it... Trudeau -- Pierre that is, not Justin.

Maybe that's the problem, a kind of collective amnesia which has caused Canadians to forget, in less than three months, the endless stream of scandals, boondoggles and incompetent decisions inflicted on them for nearly ten years by the government of Trudeau the Son.

Mr Carney is being hailed as a miracle worker who will single-handedly sweep aside all the problems faced by the Great No-longer-white North. But his cabinet cabinet is populated with the same people, reappointed by him when he assumed office, who brought us such examples of misrule as:

* The ArriveCAN scandal, which in 2020 saw almost $60 million spent on a sole-sourced contract for an app that's now not used and which a private developer said could have been developed over a weekend for a fraction of the price.
* A massive increase of immigration, legal or illegal, by millions of foreigners who cannot or will not assimilate into Canadian culture, with no plan to house or otherwise accommodate them, other than to put them up in hotels at taxpayers' expense.

Until just this week, when the Liberals' lead in the opinion polls narrowed somewhat, all predictions have been that the man with the widow's hump would storm to victory, in spite of his total lack of charisma or ability to tell the truth about anything.

Mr Carnage's lead in the polls is slowly shrinking. Some models now suggest that a hung parliament is a strong possibility. But it could be worse than that for the poster boy for the WEF. His political inexperience, arrogant behaviour, massive ego, aloofness and reportedly "volcanic temper" have been on full display during the campaign.

Don’t be surprised, then, if Monday's election result resembles the narrow victory of Emperor Trudeau the First in 1972, or... many Canadians hope and pray... a win, however narrow, for the Conservatives, whom Walt endorses.

Canadians have had a chance to get to know the white knight who has entered the lists to save the Liberals from electoral disaster, and find that the more they know him, the less they like him. He did poorly in the two leaders' debates. He has swiped ideas from the Conservatives, kept most of Junior's Trudeau’s loony social and economic policies, and has suggested almost nothing new.

Surely Canucks, distracted though they may be by Trump's trolling and the hockey playoffs, aren't going to be fooled a fourth time! Stay tuned!

VIDEO: Best "Buy Canadian" TV ad so far this year

President Trump has managed to do something which Canadian politicians can only yap about and dream of. With his repeated public statements about turning the Great No-longer-white North into the 51st of the Disunited States of America, he has united Canadians of every region, every province, every language, every [Get on with it. Ed.] etc.

You'd be hard-pressed indeed to find a single Canuck, who wants to share in the benefits of being part of the US of A, such as unaffordable health care, unrestricted gun ownership, incomprehensible politics, and the joys of DEI and other constructs of America's liberal democracy.

The odd thing is that the chief practitioner and beneficiary of the Politics of TDS is Mark Carnage, Canuckistan's Prime Minister and the archtype of a globalist One-Worlder. On the strength of one polite phone conversation with President Trump -- in which he now admits the Donald did talk about the 51st state things -- Mr Carnage has wrapped himself in the maple leaf flag for his role as Captain Canada, proclaiming that he is the only one who can save the GNN from the invasion of the Merkans.

The effects of TTDS -- Trump Tariff Derangement Syndrome -- are already noticeable in the form of many and various "Buy Canadian" campaigns. Retailers are busy labelling any Canadian products they can find (most things are made in China or the USA) with little maple leaves and "Product of Canada/Produit du Canada" stickers.

Canadian marketers are all in -- elbows up! -- on this, flooding the media with ads proclaiming their Canuckiness. Some of the commercials are pretty clever. This is one of them, which we hereby enter into the competition for the 2025 Wally Award for Creativity in Advertising (Canadian Division).    .

Pretty funny, eh! Dear American readers, see if you can figure out the brand of American soup which Aylmer says you shouldn't buy because there's is... errr... more Canadian. Hint: once upon a time the American soup used to feature a pic of smiling and obese (therefore American?) kids on the label. The company name sounds as if it should be Scottish, but it ain't!

VIDEO: Anthony Stine on the death of Francis... and what happens next

Regular readers will know that there are three traditional Catholic commentators we follow regularly, whoses videos we occasionally repost here. They are (in no particular order): Michael Matt, Dr Taylor Marshall, and Anthony Stine. Mr Stine's "Return to Tradition" vlog was first off the mark today with these thoughts about the death of Pope Bergoglio and how his successor may be chosen.

Like Mr Stine, we shudder at the thought of Cardinal Pietro Parolin -- Peter the Roman -- becoming pope. The cardinals who meet in conclave to choose Francis' successor are supposed to pray that the Holy Ghost will guide them in their deliberations. There is nothing to stop the faithful from praying too, nor to stop us from mentioning by name those we would welcome and those we would not!

Jorge Bergoglio, RIP

Yesterday, Easter Sunday, Christians around the world celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. Today, Easter Monday, at 0945 local time, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, announced the death of Jorge Borgoglio, the man whom most Catholics called "Pope Francis", in these words:

"Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. At 7:35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father. His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of His Church. He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage, and universal love, especially in favor of the poorest and most marginalized. With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we commend the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite merciful love of the One and Triune God."

Pope Bergoglio had been ill for some time. His "miraculous recovery" (see "Is Pope Francis compos or non compos?", WWW 25/3/25), appears to have been the result of the intervention of the Vatican's doctors, to the end that there should be no disruption of Easter Sunday, the holiest day of the on the Church calendar. And now the poor old man is at rest. May God have mercy on his soul.

Much will be written in the coming days about the decline of the Church -- not just my opinion but a visible and established fact -- which occurred on Francis' watch. God only knows how much of the crisis in which the Church now finds Herself is attributable directly or indirectly to the actions or neglect of Pope Bergoglio. What we must now watch for and pray for is the healing and recovery of Holy Mother Church from the ills of the decades since Vatican II.

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Canadian political leaders debate -- what they REALLY said

We don't like to interrupt the Easter Triduum with worldly affairs, but since the Liberal government of Canuckistan has chosen to schedule the only face-to-face election debates with its opponents for the middle of Holy Week, we must devote today's post to the correction of misinformation, disinformation and false impressions created by the version of the English-language debate broadcast by the lickspittle, bought-and-paid-for "mainstream media".

Dear Canadian readers, what you saw on Thursday evening was not the real verbal exchange between Prime Minister pro tem Mark Carnage, Cuckservative leader Pierre "Pipi" Poilievre, and pinko socialist Sikh leader Jugmeat Singh. The "debate" you saw was generated by AI to make it appear as if Canada's "leaders" have at least the first clue about how to fix the No-longer-great No-longer-white North. Here's a summary of what they really said.

Dear Canadian voters, the advance polls are open today and (sadly) on Easter Sunday. Get out there and vote for the least of the three evils. [He means Poilievre. Ed.]

Today at St. Aloysius R.C. Church in Thorold ON, this happend...

The third part of the Mass of the Presanctified -- the traditional Roman Catholic Good Friday liturgy -- is the Adoration of the Holy Cross

A large crucifix, whose figure is covered by a purple veil, is brought from the sacristy to the middle of the sanctuary. The celebrant receives the Cross in front of the altar. He then unveils the Cross in three steps -- first one arm, then the other, and then the entire Cross.

As he does so, he sings (each time): Ecce lignum Crucis, in quo salus mundi pependit. (Behold the wood of the Cross, on which hung the Saviour of the world.) The choir answers: Venite adoremus. (Come let us adore.)

This afternoon, at Saint Aloysius Church, in Thorold ON, a remarkable thing happened... perhaps not so remarkable to those who embrace the True Faith.

At the precise moment when Father Robert Novokowsky, FSSP, unveiled the Cross, there was a bit of thunder, and the heavens opened up, as if Heaven was crying, mourning the wickedness of the world, for which the Son of God paid the price.

After a short while, the sun came out again, just as Christ rose again on the third day. This is the testimony of one who was there. Maybe it will mean something to you... maybe not... But let it never be said that God doesn't send us messages -- signs, signals and, yes, warnings -- every day.

Traditional Catholic prayers for Good Friday

Good Catholic friends... If you attend the Good Friday Liturgy at a mainstream Roman Catholic church today, you will hear only a "reformed", politically correct version of the Solemn Prayers which were said in all our churches, on every Good Friday for centuries, until the disorientation caused by Vatican II. Here are the old prayers in a translation bearing the imprimatur of Francis Cardinal Spellman.

1. For Holy Church
Almighty and eternal God, who in Christ hast revealed They glory to all nations: preserve the works of Thy mercy; that Thy Church, spread abroad over the whole world, may with a steadfast faith persevere in the confession of Thy Name. Through the same our Lord...

2. For the Supreme Pontiff
Almighty and eternal God, by whose judgment all things are established, mercifully regard our prayers, and in Thy goodness preserve the Chief Bishop chosen to rule over us: that the Christian people who are governed by Thine authority, may under so great a Pontiff increase in the merits of their faith. Through our Lord...

3. For all orders and degrees of the faithful
Almighty and eternal God, by whose Spirit the w hole body of the Church is sanctified and governed, hear our supplications for all the orders thereof; that by the gift of Thy grace, they may all in their several degrees faithfully serve Thee. Through our Lord...

4. For the rulers of the state
Almighty and eternal God, in whose hands is all power and authority: look with mercy on those who govern us, that Thy right hand protecting us, integrity of faith and security of country may be preserved. Through our Lord Jesus Christ...

5. For catechumens
Almighty and eternal God, Who dost continually enrich Thy Church with a new offspring; increase the faith and understanding of our Catechumens; that being born again in the waters of Baptism, they may be joined to the children of Thine adoption. Through our Lord...

6. For the necessities of the faithful
Almighty and eternal God, the Comfort of the sorrowful, the Support of the weary, let the prayers of them reach Thee that cry to Thee in any affliction; that all may have reason to rejoice that in their need Thy mercy hath come to their aid. Through our Lord...

7. For the unity of the Church
Almighty and eternal God, Who saves all men, and desirest not that any should perish: look down on such souls as are deceived by the wiles of the devil; that laying aside all heretical perverseness, the hearts of those who are in error may be converted, and may return to the unity of Thy truth. Through our Lord...

8. For the conversion of the Jews
Almighty and eternal God, Who art ready to extend Thy mercy even to the Jews, hear the prayers which we offer for the blindness of that people; that by acknowledging the light of Thy truth, which is Christ, they may be delivered from their darkness. Through the same our Lord...

9. For the conversion of infidels
Almighty and eternal God, Who dost ever desire the life, and not the death, of sinners: mercifully receive our prayer, and deliver them from the worship of idols, and join them to the flock of Thy holy Church, for the praise and glory of Thy Name. Through our Lord...

Yes! The Habs made the playoffs!

Earlier this month we asked "Are the Habs going to make the playoffs?" Instead of making a prediction, we reposted an article by Brian Wilde in which he said the Canadien rebuild was coming along just fine, but... didn't answer the question.

This morning we are pleased to report that the answer is a big, fat YES / OUI!  For the first time in four years, les Glorieux have earned that nickname, clinching an NHL playoff berth -- second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference -- with a 4-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes at Le Centre Bell last night.

The last time the Canadiens made the playoffs in 2021, they advanced all the way to the Stanley Cup final before losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning. But that was the COVID-19 shortened season when teams only played 56 regular-season games and the Canadiens had a 24-21-11 record, which ranked 18th in the overall NHL standings.

The Habs' first home playoff game this year will be the first post-season game at a full Bell Centre since April 20, 2017, when they lost 3-2 in overtime to the New York Rangers in Game 5 of a first-round series. The Canadiens were eliminated in Game 6 two nights later at Madison Square Garden, losing 3-1 to the Rangers. The only member of the Canadiens who played in that series against the Rangers who is still with the team is Brendan Gallagher, the little warrior.

Walt will be seeing Poor Len Canayen (our National Sport As Long As It's Hockey Editor) over the Easter weekend and will consult with him before opening a book. Odds of la Sainte Flanelle advancing past the first round are likely to be long. However, with another little warrior, Lane Hutson, continuing to amaze the opposition, and yet another, Ivan Demidov, joining the ranks just this week...

But wait, there's more. Captain Nick Suzuki emerged this season as one of the top three centres in the entire league. And yet another little warrior, Cole Caufield, had a career-high 37 goals and 70 points, playing in all 82 games. With guys like that hitting peak performance this month, les Canadien seront là!

Canadians no longer welcome American tourists. Sorry!

Poor Len Canayen reports that the booing of the Star-spangled Banner at hockey games held in Canada has abated. This is due to ritualized announcements before the fat lady sings [Wut? Cheralyn Toca "fat"? Hardly! Ed.] urging the fans to forget about "the current unpleasantness" and show some respect for the game and those who play it, no matter what sweaters they wear.

Nevertheless, visiting Americans, whether hockey players or tourists, are noticing a distinct cooling in Canucks' attitudes to their guests. Seems the frostbacks don't like being insulted by the Donald, with all his "51st state" bullshit. And there's always been that kind of smugness about being better educated and less parochial than the average American. You know, the kind you see on Judge Judy.

Our suspicions that they really just want Americans to come to their country to "Keep Canada green! Bring US dollars!" were confirmed when Len passed along this leaked copy of a memorandum from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, which instructs Canucks in how to "get even" with the Yankee invaders while still taking their greenbacks.

Eleven ways for Canadians to annoy Americans

1. Talk really slowly, enunciating every syllable.
2. Refer to the United States as "the eleventh province".
3. Frisk them for weapons.

4. Intentionally mispronounce rapper Jay-Z's name "Jay-Zed".
5. Flash your all-inclusive Free Health Card.
6. "Maple syrup or grits? Yeah there's a tough choice."

7. Tell them they couldn't possibly be American; they're not obese enough.
8. When in conversation, ask them to repeat themselves, saying, "I'm sorry ,I just can't understand your accent".
9. "The next 'Bachelor' is Canadian. Now you'll see how a real man deals with the ladies".
10. "New York? Where is that exactly?"

11. When they commend your politeness, tell them to fuck off.

It's possible this document might be bogus, or that Len has already started celebrating the Habs' gaining entry into the NHL playoffs for the first time in years, but, dear American readers, if you visit Canada this summer, don't expect an unequivocal welcome.

Common sense immigration policy

VIDEO: Would you buy an iPhone or sneakers made by these guys?

President Trump has said that the point of all these tariffs on foreign-made goods is to not only address unfairness in the global trading system, but to bring jobs and factories back to America. Soon (he says) there will be lots of good jobs in factories like those to be found in places like Xinjiang province, in the Worker's Paradise that is China.

What would winning the trade war with China look like? Something like this, perhaps?

Yes, that's Chinese Communist propaganda, but it has got a lot of people thinking... even the Donald, who yesterday announced that smartphones and computers will be exempt from reciprocal tariffs, including the 125% levies imposed on Chinese imports.

The apparent flip-flop comes after concerns from Amerian tech companies that the price of such gadgets could skyrocket, because many of them are made in China or use Chinese-made parts. The exemptions also include other electronic devices and components, including semiconductors, solar cells and memory cards.

Some estimates suggested iPhone prices and other electronic goods in America would have gone up three times if the costs of the tariffs had been passed on to consumers. The US of A is a major market for iPhones, while Apple accounted for more than half of its smartphones sales last year. As much as 80% of Apple's iPhones intended for sale in America are made in China, with the remaining 20% made in India.

Along with fellow smartphone giants such as Samsung, Apple has been trying to diversify its supply chains to avoid over-reliance on China in recent years. India and Vietnam emerged as frontrunners for additional manufacturing hubs. As tariffs took effect, Apple reportedly looked to speed up and increase its production of India-produced devices in recent days.

President Trump had planned a host of steep tariffs on countries around the world set to go into effect this week. But on Wednesday, he quickly reversed course, announcing that he would implement a 90-day pause for countries hit by higher US tariffs - except China - whose tariffs he raised to 145%.

Trump said the Chinese tariff increase was because of the country's readiness to retaliate with its own 84% levy on US goods. In a dramatic change of policy, Trump said all countries that had not retaliated against US tariffs would receive a reprieve – and only face a blanket US tariff of 10% – until July. The White House then said the move was a negotiating tactic to extract more favourable trade terms from other countries.

Says Walt (pulling at the outside corners of his eyes to make them look kinda slanty), rotsa ruck with that.

A meme for Canadians deciding how to vote

Regular readers know that we run a lot of memes from the Memesters Union at the Patriot Post. Today we have something from north of the World's Longest Partially Defended Border (TM), which we're sure expresses the feelings of a great many Canadians.

You're not likely to see this in the Canuck social media though. It's not "social" enough for the oh-so-polite frost-backs. More like ANTI-social, the lamestream media say. Thanks to all at Blazing Cat Fur.

While we digest the latest on the Trump tariffs...

...here's something completely different.

Tom Swift was a character, in pre-war books for boys like Tom Swift and His Electric Flying Machine". Tom never just said anything. He said it in a certain way, defined by an adverb. Examples:
"Where's my favourite newsmagazine?" said Tom timelessly.
"Who publishes Time and Life?" asked Tom loosely.
Here's more.

I hope Walt will return soon, said Ed. shorthandedly.

Canadian voters: Don't say you weren't warned!

Dear Canadian friends, please don't be snowed [Geddit? Ed.] by all the paid advertising --
and propagands from the lickspittle media, who are also bought and paid for -- about the new Dear Leader of the Liberal Party and unelected Prime Minister of Canada.

His apologists are trying to paint him as a soft, sensible, middle-of-the-road statesman, an ultra-nice Canuck kid with no agenda other than saving the Great No-longer-white North from the evil Orange Man. Walt calls BS on all that!

The truth about Mr Carnage's plans to finish the job started by the Trudeaus (père et fils) and make Canada a part of the Davos gang's New World Order are to be found in his own words in his book Values.

Values reads like a sermon from a high priest of globalism... which, come to think of it, it is. It's "polished, preachy, and packed with ideas that should send shivers down the spine of anyone who cares about Canada’s economy, especially Western energy producers.

"Writing as the former Bank of Canada governor and a darling of the Liberal elite, Carney pitches a vision of 'sustainable finance', net-zero absolutism, and heavy-handed regulation. To the National Citizens Coalition, it's clear: this isn't a roadmap to prosperity, it's a wrecking ball aimed at the heart of Canada’s resource sector and the West's economic lifeline."

Those quotes (and the graphic) are taken from "Carney's 'values' the wrong ones at the wrong time", posted on Blazing Cat Fur today. Opening the link will take  you to the original article by the National Citizens Council's Alexander Brown, which appeared in the Western Standard yesterday. Thanks to all concerned.

DEAR READERS, please pass this on! Click on the headline to make this post appear in a new tab. Then copy the URL and send it to all the Canadians you know. The rule of the loony Liberal globalists has to stop!

Early casualties of the trade wars

"You realize, of course, this means war!" I didn't expect to hear this threat uttered again, outside of Warner Bros. cartoons, but now American and Canadian politicians are shouting this at each other, and it appears they are in earnest.

Americans should be thankful that President Trump has not yet led them into a shooting war against their ever-so-nice northern neighbours -- notice the Canadian spelling -- for the last time Yankees tried to make Canada a state, look what happened.

Walt has lost his photos taken during the War of 1812 -- the only war the US of A lost until Vietnam. This was taken during a re-enactment of the Battle of Fort Erie.

You can't see the American soldiers because they're inside the fort, which they had occupied for a time. The British, aided by Canadian militias and Indians [it was OK to call them that, then. Ed.] were trying to take the fort back, and eventually did so.

You can see Old Fort Erie today, just five miles or so northwest of the World's Longest Formerly Defended Border (TM). From there you can see Buffalo... if you want to.

I mention this because plans for re-enactments of this and other battles of the War of 1812 and even the Revolutionary War are being cancelled on both sides of the border, because of the Trump Tariffs.

Canadian re-enactors don't want to spend their hard-come-by US dollars where they're not welcome, and won't put up with the surliness of the CBP. Americans are afraid they won't be able to bring their guns across the border, and that on their return the US border guards will tear their bags to shreds looking for mary-jew-anna and beavertails.

So fuggedabadit. Too bad, sez Walt.

Your Singhs today ("Brampton men" edition)

Agent 3 has read our plea for help (didja miss it?) and has contributed another item for our file of Sikh, Sikh, Sikh people. This one comes from Brampton ON, the capital of Sikhism in eastern Canada. Yes, and of thefts of cargo trailers, drug smuggling, assaults with cricket bats and other crimes and misdemeanours. The following comes directly (and mostly unedited) from the Peel Regional Police blotter.

Peel Regional Police have arrested another individual and laid further charges in connection to an ongoing investigation that is estimated to include more than five million in stolen cargo. Between December 2024 and January 2025, several victims reported that their trailers loaded with freight were stolen by a transportation company known as All Days Trucking.

Through an extensive investigation, it was determined that Manjinder Singh Bura, a 41-year-old man from Brampton and owner of Bura Limited Inc., was complicit in these crimes. As a result, Bura was arrested and charged on Feb. 19. On Feb. 26, investigators executed search warrants at an address in Nobleton, Ontario, which led to the recovery of additional stolen property. Officers were also able to identify two more companies that were involved in these incidents: Velocity Logistics Inc. and Torque Logistics Inc.

After further investigation, 28-year-old Sukhdeep Singh Brar of Brampton was arrested and charged with the following on April 3:
Theft Over $5000 x17
Fraud Over $5000 x16
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x10

In addition, Bura, who was originally arrested in February, was re-arrested and charged with:
Theft Over $5000 x12
Fraud Over $5000 x11
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x9

Both individuals were held in custody for bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. This investigation remains ongoing, and more charges are anticipated.

Walt's comment: "More charges are anticipated.? More??? Are these guys trying to set some kind of GSOAT record? The competition will be tough... And (innocent question), why don't they do mugshots of these guys wearing their turbans, so we'll have a better chance of recognizing them on the streets when they're released on bail?

VIDEO: Bill Burr tells the media to grow some balls!

And he never once used the f-word. How about that!

I don't care what they say about Bill being a cuckservative. (Could it be beause he's married to a girl of the darker persuasion?) IMHO, he's one of the few -- Dave Chappelle being another -- who has the courage to laugh at what I've long called "the sorry state of the world"... the real world.

Thanks to Agent 34 for fillin in in Walt's hour of need.

Walt is sick

Ed. here. Walt has been violently ill since 1600 EDT on Wednesday. I have put him to bed with a pitcher of Ma Nifkins' jellied gin and am hopeful that he will be able to write again by the beginning of the week.

How are the Habs doing? Are they going to make the playoffs?

While we wait for the shoes -- the Trump tariffs -- to drop, let's talk hockey.

Last night's game between the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers and our beloved Montréal Canadiens was a real thriller. With 10 seconds left on the clock, Habs captain Nick Suzuki scored to lift les Glorieux into a 2-2 tie. Then he did it again at 30 second of the OT, et les boyz ont remporté la victoire, 3 à 2. Olé, olé, olé!

At this point we'd turn this space over to Poor Len Canayen, our National Sports (as long ss it's hockey) Editor, but Len is on sabbatical or something like that, so we're taking the liberty of posting a mash-up of Global TV's Brian Wilde's "Call of the Wilde", which says everything that Len would have said, only better. [And with no run-on sentences. Ed.] Thanks, Brian!

With nine games to play and six at home, the Montréal Canadiens have the advantage for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The opportunity is in front of them, but they have to keep executing.

Every night is Lane Hutson Night. The assault on the record book continues. He's a point-per-game player since the Four Nations break. Hutson notched an assist on the first goal for the Canadiens on a deflection from Josh Anderson. That line was a handful and the best on the night for Montreal.

Hutson now has 57 assists in his rookie season. He has moved ahead of Chris Chelios for second in assists all-time for a rookie defender. He trails only Larry Murphy for assists for a rearguard rookie in the history of the National Hockey League. Murphy had 60 assists. Three in eight games for the tie.

Hutson's 62 points overall is also top-ten in the history of the game for rookie defenders. He could conceivably rise to third overall at his present pace. It must be stressed again that the entire top-15 list is from an era where the average goal total in a contest was 11 or 12; not six or seven goals.

The best this century before Hutson was Quinn Hughes with 53 points on 45 assists. Hutson has obliterated the best numbers in the last 25 years of rookies on the blue line. Hutson is remarkable. They might just scout differently. this kid is so special.

Smaller players with world-class vision and creativity might not be treated like they will never make the major leagues. What doesn't get enough attention as he makes his meteoric rise to the upper echelon in the history of the game is he is improving tremendously in his own zone as well.

The Canadiens are in the mix for a playoff spot, and Hutson is, without a doubt, the single biggest change to this roster from last season. Nick Suzuki is having his best campaign. Cole Caufield has had a strong season. Juraj Slafkovsky has had an excellent second half. The Dvorak line is giving the opposition fits these days. Brendan Gallagher is playing the best hockey he has played in years, and Christian Dvorak's best moments as a Canadiens player are right now.

The fourth line had their remarkable run when they were best in the league in goals at one point for a fourth line. On defence, Jayden Struble has improved. Kaiden Guhle is improving still. Alexandre Carrier was a great addition via trade.

However, all of those reason pale in comparison to the difference Hutson has made to this team in five months. He is just getting started. There are times that it is apparent that he will be even better than this when he sees how much he can actually fool the opposition. They have seen what he can do. They have adapted to him as well as they can. He still is playing chess to their checkers. The rebuild is going just fine, Montréal!

Your Singhs today (Canadian election edition)

One week into the campaign -- just four left -- and things are not looking good for the pinko NDP (New Democratic Party, which is neither "new" nor "democratic"). Under the leadership of Jagmeet Singh, it has sunk to single digits in the polls -- right down there with the Green Party, the People's Party of Canada (too bad, Max!) and None of the Above.

To make matters worse, the Knee-Dippers are already out of money. Changes in election financing law some years back put a stop to the cash flow from union checkoffs, and the blue-collar types who used to vote NDP have left it to the Volvo progressives, who drive Volvos because they don't give their money away.

So Jugmeet Singh and his advisors have had to come up with a new fundraising scheme. Here it is.

Sikh mothers across Canada (especially the many in Brampton ON and Surrey BC) are being used to donate at least one of their daughters for the good of the cause. "One girl more or less, makes no difference. Plenty more where they came from!"

Note from Ed.: Before you run out to report Walt to the Anti-Racism Police, take note of today's date.
